It’s Time To Let Go

This blog is inspired by the most amazing woman – #KeriSoVery (check out her blog here) . Since we are friends and I follow her on Facebook, I was able to see a post where she spoke about a conversation with her daughter. Her words are so insightful that I had to share.

As we move forward towards our goals, you will need to eliminate things in your life that no longer serve you or things that will not help you when you complete your goal.

People shy away from this. Many of us have a scarcity mindset; we fear letting go of what we have, even if it isn’t serving us. Think of #KeriSoVery’s example. You have to prune a plant or tree, sometimes hard, if you want it to flourish. If you garden, you know that some plants require you to cut them all the way back, and if you don’t do it regularly, the plant will die.

Maybe you won’t die if you don’t get rid of the things that you no longer need, but will your goals? Will you not flourish if you needlessly cling to the things that you do not need.

I’ll stop dancing around the one thing everyone is thinking about. Do people fall into the category of things to be pruned? Yep. Sorry, no way to sugar-coat it. Sometimes people come into your life to teach you a lesson; once you’ve learned it, you can let them and the relationship go. It is no longer serving you. Clingy to it and them does nothing but make you miserable and keep you holding on to that vine that #KeriSoVery mentioned.

Challenge

Oh my blueberries, this is a big one, because it means you have to be totally and completely honest with yourself. And if that were easy, you would have already done it.

What and who do you need to let go of to move forward?

What includes emotions, beliefs, mindsets, objects, jobs, activities, friends, lovers, family members, clothes, homes, cars, junk, memories.

Write a list. Destroy it after if that makes you feel better, but for a brief shining moment, be honest with yourself.
